Contemporary implications of the design of apartment buildings

Across all age groups, succeeding changes in life, shifting representations, and novel economic conditions have for a long time led us into dreaming of territories that may grow or shrink –  in one word, adapt to different situations without us having to worry about leaving one’s neighborhood and familiar space. Projections foresee a rise in the number of co-tenants at different moments of a person’s life and most particularly between generations. Thus housing will have to be adaptable to the ages and rhythms of domestic groups. [the flyer].

Monique Eleb is a psychologist and holds a PhD in sociology. She is Professor at the École nationale supérieure d’architecture (National Higher School of Architecture) at Paris-Malaquais. She is Head of the Laboratory Architecture, culture et société, (Architecture, culture, and society), 19th – 21th centuries (UMR-CNRS-MCC).
